The WA Day Festival is set to be bigger and better than ever.

A bumper crowd is expected for the free event at Burswood Park on Sunday and Monday, June 2 and 3.

There will be an Art Meets Science zone, Bupa Play in WA zone and a dome cinema experience, Star Dreaming.

Performances include the Spare Parts Puppet Theatre’s String Symphony, a giant illuminated puppet suspended with ropes brought to life by festival-goers. More colour and movement will be provided by the Freedom Fairies and Famous Sharron, pictured.

ScreenWest will screen homegrown short films and the WA Museum will bring back its Inflatable Museum and Museum in a Container.

A fireworks display over the Swan River will start at 7.15pm on Sunday and family-friendly activities continue on Monday, with a music festival headlined by Drapht, Jebediah and John Butler.
